Medical Students' Viewpoints toward Clinical Physiology Presentation in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences

Abstract:

Introduction: To make association between basic sciences and clinical courses of medicine is an established essential, which highly contributes to a better and more accurate learning of clinical concepts and disease diagnosis and therapy among students. This study investigated medical students' viewpoints toward presentation of clinical physiology lesson. Methods: In this action research, clinical physiology was presented for the first time as an optional course during the first semester of 2007-2008 academic years in the list of courses for medical students of 4th semester in Isfahan University of Medical sciences. Students' viewpoints toward presentation of this course were evaluated through a researcher-made questionnaire. Data was analyzed by SPSS software using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation). Results: Total mean score and standard deviation of questionnaire is 48.18±0.38 which shows students' positive attitude toward presentation of clinical physiology course. Mean score and standard deviation of students' satisfaction with presentation of this course was 9.53±0.46, which shows their approval. Conclusion: regarding the findings of the study, positive attitude of the students, and their interest to clinical physiology, it is recommended to present this course to students as an optional module in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences.
